Johan Jooste Photography is a new website that specializes in photography in Windhoek, Namibia. Therefore the site consists of many photo galleries like Wedding Photography, Models, People, Places, etc. and then there's a section on Springbok Rugby, my other personal interest.

I will also be discussing photography in general as well as photo equipment in a broad field.

This website is an upgrade from my previous site and thus there will be a constant upgrade and development, at least in the foreseeable future. Please bear with me and do not hesitate to interact through the blogs or with e-mails. Since I don't do the intended "Photo Tours" anymore, this site will be much more personal and will be mostly photography related. Photography is in my blood and I welcome other photographers to participate and to interact on my website.

Profile

Picture
Johan Jooste (APSSA) started with photography in 1984 when he joined a local camera club in Windhoek, Namibia. He learned his skills at the club for many years during club competitions, National and International salon participation whereby he achieved many photographic awards with the highest award that of APSSA which was bestowed upon him by the Photographic Society of Southern Africa.

Johan learned photography when it was still film (negative) and later he mainly used slide (transparency) film at the camera club. Slide film was a great way to learn how to give extra attention to your exposure, because of the unforgiving nature of transparency film. With slide film, a 1/4 of an f-stop made a difference in the overall exposure of the photograph.

Johan shoots with Nikon digital equipment now and he believes that he has to thank the "old" film school days for his thorough understanding of photography and all it's different facets. He also believes that digital photography has raised the standard of most people's work, but that a good understanding of the basics is of vital importance.
